Administrative Offenses Act (Act on Administrative Offenses (OWiG) for the Federal Republic of Germany) - provides the administrative authorities of the federal, state and local authorities as well as other corporations and institutions under public law (e.g. broadcasters) with the legal basis, warnings and fines to punish violations of regulatory provisions (administrative injustice). The prosecution and punishment of administrative offenses, which is generally the responsibility of the administrative authorities (Section 35 OWiG), constitutes the right to sanction and is to be distinguished from the imposition of penalty payments to enforce administrative acts by means of administrative enforcement.
