📖 The book “Bustan Al-Arifeen” by Al-Nawawi 📖

By Abu Zakaria Yahya bin Sharaf Al-Hazami Al-Nawawi Al-Shafi’i, known as Al-Nawawi

Enjoy reading the book Bustan Al-Arifeen by Al-Nawawi with the application of books and stories, without the Internet, and many other features

Classified in the softening and asceticisms, and softening hearts with the words of God and His Messenger, the words of his honorable companions, the righteous saints of God, and knowledgeable working scholars.

And because the world is a house of exhaustion, not a house of eternity, a house of passage, not a house of joy, a house of annihilation, not a house of permanence, and a house of disappearance, not a house of permanence.. The warning came in the Mighty Qur’an against relying on it, being deceived by it, and relying on it.

And so did the prophetic hadiths and the sage narrations. For this reason, the most awakened among its people were: the servants, and the most sensible people therein were: the ascetics. Therefore, as the author said - may God have mercy on him - it was right for man to follow the path of the wise, and follow the doctrine of insight.

In it, its author - an expert critic - mentions sentences of the precious things of kindness and truths of knowledge, in a sober manner that keeps his reading away from boredom.

He included it from the noble verses, the hadiths of the Prophets, the enlightening sayings of the predecessors, and the most well-known hadiths from the good people, from the eyes of stories, and ascetic poetry.

It often shows the authenticity and goodness of hadiths and the state of their narrators, and clarifies what may be hidden or distorted in their meanings, and controls what needs to be restricted. Beware of misprinting, and to avoid change and distortion, the attribution may be omitted for the sake of brevity, and because this book is intended for worshipers, and those who do not know the attribution are in need.

If in a hadith or story there is a strange word or an ambiguous name that needs to be controlled, he restricts it and clarifies it precisely and clearly, and what needs to be explained... he explains it and clarifies it.

Included in this book are types of legal sciences, some of its branches of hadith, jurisprudence, and religious literature, some of the science of hadith and the hidden subtleties of jurisprudence, important matters from the foundations of beliefs, some of the precious things of rules, and nice oddities that are recommended in the memoirs and desirable to be mentioned in group gatherings. About the conditions of the heart and its diseases, and mentions its medicine and treatment.

Author:
Abu Zakaria Yahya bin Sharaf Al-Hazami Al-Nawawi Al-Shafi’i (631 AH - 1233 AD / 676 AH - 1277 AD), known as “Al-Nawawi,” is a Muslim hadith scholar, jurist, and linguist, and one of the most prominent Shafi’i jurists. He is famous for his many books and classifications in jurisprudence, hadith, language, and biographies, such as Riyadh Al-Salehin, Al-Arba’in Al-Nawawi, Minhaj Al-Talibeen, and Al-Rawdah. He is described as the editor of the Shafi’i school of thought, its refiner, its reviewer and its arranger, as the work among the Shafi’i jurists has settled on what Al-Nawawi suggests is most likely. Al-Nawawi is called the Sheikh of the Shafi’is. If the word “two sheikhs” is used according to the Shafi’is, they mean Al-Nawawi and Abu Al-Qasim Al-Rafi’i Al-Qazwini.

- It is considered one of the books of Al-Ruqiq, which included hadiths about intention and sincerity and some news of the predecessors and followers. In it, Al-Nawawi quoted some of his hadiths from Al-Qushayri’s treatise on the authority of Imam Al-Qushayri and commented on them, and in it he transmitted some of the miracles of the saints. He died, may God have mercy on him, before completing the book.

❇️ Some quotes from Al-Nawawi’s book Bustan Al-Arifeen ❇️

“For religion is advice: and from advice is to add the benefit that surprises the one who says it. Whoever does that will be blessed in his knowledge and condition. And whoever misleads that and misleads what he takes from the words of others that it is his, then he is deserving of not benefiting from his knowledge and not being blessed in any situation. And the people of knowledge and virtue have not ceased to exist.” To add benefits to the one who said it, we ask God Almighty to grant us success for that always.”

“Abu al-Baqa told us, Abu Muhammad told us, Abu Bakr al-Khatib told us, Abu al-Qasim Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Siraj told us, saying: I heard Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Sa’ih saying, I heard al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, the companion of Sahl, saying: I heard Sahl ibn Abdullah saying:
There is no veil thicker than a claim between a servant and God, and there is no path closer to Him than poverty.”

Al-Qushayri said, “Know that for the sake of the honors that are granted to saints, they will always be granted success in obedience and protection from sins and transgressions. Transgressions may include what is not sin, such as what is disliked, the dislike of purity, and such as abandoning desires that it is desirable to abandon.”

- Yahya bin Sharaf Al-Nawawi, Bustan Al-Arifeen
