These are hadiths and narrations on a great virtue of the virtues of Islam, specific to the social life of it, compiled by the author, Al-Hafiz Ibn Abi Al-Dunya, explaining the favor, its virtue, and its artificiality to those who deserve it, and the needs and the virtue of fulfilling them, and to those who seek, and the gratitude of the favor and the virtue of facilitation over the one who is in difficulty.

Author:
Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ubaid bin Sufyan bin Qais al-Baghdadi al-Qurashi, their master, one of the loyalists of the Umayyads (208 AH - 281 AH), nicknamed Ibn Abi al-Dunya (and his title overshadowed his name until he became famous for it); Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr was born in the city of Baghdad, at the beginning of the third century AH, in the year two hundred and eight (208 AH). ❇️ Sections and chapters of Ibn Abi al-Dunya’s book Isti’na al-Ma’ruf ❇️

The first chapter: Its title is (The Virtue of Doing Good), and it contains 25 hadiths that encourage doing good, and talk about the virtue of that. Good is charity, and good protects seventy types of affliction, and protects from a bad death, and good and evil are two morals that are recommended for people on the Day of Resurrection, so good is necessary for its people, leading them and driving them to heaven, and evil is necessary for its people, leading them and driving them to hell.

Chapter Two: Its title is (Laughter), and it contains 18 hadiths, all of which indicate the virtue of a fluent face and smiling, and remember that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, smiled the most.

Chapter Three: Its title is (Fasting what is good for those who deserve it), and it contains 31 hadiths that indicate that doing what is good should be done to a person who knows and appreciates the value of this good, not to a foolish, obscene or mean person.

Chapter Four: Its title is (On Needs), and it contains 14 hadiths, most of which are weak or very weak. It was narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he said: (All creation are God’s children, so the most beloved of them to God Almighty are the most beneficial to his children).

-= Part Two =-

The first chapter: Its title is (Seeking Needs at the Goodness of Faces), and it contains 19 hadiths that indicate the request for needs at the Goodness of Faces.

The second chapter: Its title is (On gratitude for good deeds), and it contains 27 hadiths, which the author started with a hadith (He who does not thank people does not thank God), and Al-Tirmidhi said about it: Hassan Sahih. The chapter contains good poems urging good deeds and thanking them.

The third chapter: Its title is (Who Sees Someone in Insolvency), and it contains 26 hadiths that indicate the virtue of looking after the one in difficulty, and relieving distress from the distressed person. : (Whoever covers a Muslim's faults, God Almighty will cover him in this world and the Hereafter, and whoever makes things easy for a Muslim, God Almighty will make things easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. Relieve a Muslim's distress, God Almighty will relieve him of a distress from the distress of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever sacks a Muslim, God Almighty sacks him on the Day of Resurrection).

❇️ Some quotes from Ibn Abi al-Dunya's book Istisna' al-Ma'ruf ❇️

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever relieves his Muslim brother from the distress of this world, God will relieve him of the distress of this world and the Hereafter. And whoever covers his Muslim brother, Allah will cover him in this world and the Hereafter. And God is helping the servant as long as he is helping his brother.”

On the authority of Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The good and the evil are two creatures that will stand up for people on the Day of Resurrection. As for the good, he gives glad tidings to his people and promises them good, and as for the evil, he says to his companions: To you. And they can only do it by necessity.”

Ubayd Allah ibn Abbas said to his nephew: It is better for your garment to be seen on your companion than for it to be seen on you, and for your riding animal to be seen under your companion is better for it to be seen under you.
