❇️ Some quotations from Ibn al-Jawzi's book "Al-Tihabat At-Matama" ❇️

Abu Muhammad Ibn al-Khashab, may God have mercy on him, I entered upon him while he was dying of illness, and he was calm and undisturbed.

“The father of time, Abdul-Awwal, our sheikh, may God have mercy on him, was a good man who mentioned a lot.

Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, may God have mercy on him, said Ahmad told him: When it was Monday morning, my brother Abu Hamid performed ablution and prayed, and Ali said with the shroud, so he took it and kissed it and left it over his eyes, and he said, “Listen and obey, entering upon the angel.”

Abu Al-Wafa bin Aqeel, may God have mercy on him, told me on the authority of Ibn Aqeel that when he was dying, his family wept, and he said to them: Fifty years have passed away from him, so let me be happy to meet him.

Abu al-Fadl bin Nasser told me on the authority of his grandfather, Abu Hakim al-Khubari, that he was sitting copying, and the pen fell from his hand and said, “If this is death, then by God, it is a good death.” So he died.

We attended Yusuf bin Al-Hussein Al-Razi, and he was generous with himself, so it was said to him, O Abu Yaqoub, say something.

I attended Ibrahim bin Hani' on the day of his death, so he called his son Isaac and said, "Has the sun set?"

I heard Wahb bin Naeem bin Al-Haydham say, when the matter intensified with good drinking, he asked for water and drank, and said, “He has given me what the competitors compete for.”

“Muhammad bin Sirin used to say while he was dying in the way of God, my soul is dearest to me.”

Mutarrif said when death approached him, “Oh God, it is better for me in what you have decreed for me in terms of this world and the Hereafter.” And he commanded them to carry him to his grave, so he sealed the Qur’an in it before he died.
