❇️ Some Reviews of Al-Jahiz's Book of Animals ❇️

Al-Jahiz, with his mind full of all these plots, will not be repeated across many generations. I see him as a screenwriter of a unique quality
Sasse F

- From the very rich books, Al-Jahiz knows him from his trail as well as the wise man knows his wisdom..full of hadiths, news, literature, Abbasid poetry, anecdotes and facts..I love Arabic classics and literary legacies..
Alaa Fathy Ali

- The book is specialized in the animal world, animal nature, types, species, families, names, and even interbreeding and cross-fertilization among them and some of their locations. The book was not written by a graduate of faculties of veterinary medicine or zoology, but rather Al-Jahiz Our friend was unique in diversity, expansion and precise customization, but he was not alone in taking precedence, as there are books dealing with the same subject in Arab and non-Arab horses, birds and insects. With his talk about animals comes the talk about things outside the door of animals, so the book became encyclopedic, so to speak.
Miqat Al Rajhi

- A very, very, very wonderful book, despite the difficulties I faced at the beginning of reading it because of the strong language used in it, but it greatly enriched my Arabic language. It was my gateway to enter the field of wonderful heritage books.
Samah Khuzaei

- What is this language.. and what is this beauty.. and what is this al-Jahiz?.. the book does not talk about animals and the classifications of the animal world as I was thinking.. the book talks about everything in philosophy, geography, history and medicine.. Read it
Kareem Brakat

❇️ Some quotes from Al-Jahiz's Book of Animals ❇️

“And the wisest of people cannot do the work of the bravest of people, just as the bravest of people cannot do the work of the wisest of people. Through the actions of the insane and the sane, we knew their value from the health and corruption of their minds, and by the differences in the actions of children and adults, we came to know their value in weakness and strength, and in ignorance and knowledge. Likewise, we separated the inanimate and the animal, the scholar and more knowledgeable than him, and the ignorant and more ignorant than him.”

“He whose spending that is not written in books is more pleasant to him than spending by lovers of quality and those who are reckless with building, he does not reach a satisfactory amount in knowledge.
[1/ 55]”

“And not all silence is better than all speech, nor is all speech better than all silence. Rather, we have been taught that general speech is better than general silence.”
[1/ 271]”

“The bat is an otter; And he is good at flying, and your cock is a cup and he does not fly = And what is more wonderful than the feathers of the earth, and of the skin of the air?
[1/194]”

“There is no good in one whose good is pure, and worse than one whose evil is pure.”

― Amr bin Bahr Al-Jahiz, The Animal
