Al-Asmaiyat is a book by Abu Saeed Abdul-Malik bin Qurayb Al-Asma’i, famous for Al-Asma’i. The book contains seventy-two poems in 1163 verses. For sixty-one poets. Al-Asma'i followed the approach of Mufadiyaat by paying attention to pre-Islamic poetry. The number of syllables for him is large, and the longest poems of Al-Asma’iyyat did not exceed forty-four verses, while the longest poems in Al-Mufadiyaat consisted of 108 verses.

Al-Asma’iyyat is considered the second poetic group after the Mufadiyaat and is considered complementary to it. This name was given to it by Al-Asma’i’s students, like the Mufadiyaat before it, to distinguish it from the Mufadiyaat. However, there was a mixing between them and some of their poems overlapped. And the Asma’at are in one manuscript book, so some of them got confused, so the poems of the favorites were counted as Asma’at.

Author:
His birth and death in Basra. He used to wander a lot in the deserts, quoting their sciences and receiving their news, and the caliphs mastered them, so he was rewarded with abundant gifts. There is a lot of news for him. Al-Rasheed used to call it "The Devil of Poetry". Al-Akhfash said: We have not seen anyone more knowledgeable in poetry than Al-Asma`i. Abu al-Tayyib al-Lughi said: He was the most skilled of the people in the language, the most knowledgeable of them in poetry, and he taught them to memorize.

- I am a poetry lover, and we stand as Ibtihal for Al-Asma'i for his collection and inventory of various verses and poems. A mixture of love, war, grammatical statement and linguistic questionnaire.

- Poetry group is considered the second in terms of importance after the "favorites" of Al-Mufaddal Al-Dhabi

- The poems are great, but Al-Asma’i is influenced by his taste very much, and this is what is taken against him.. But the truth of his taste is great. The hair demon has whispered to me to memorize two poems from Al-Asma’iyyat, one of them by Suhaim bin Watheel Al-Riyahi, “I am Ibn Jala and Talaa Al-Thaniya. An anecdote since I read al-Kamel in al-Lughah for al-Mubarrad, which is that al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi used it to threaten the parish, and the other is for al-Makhil ibn Amer ibn Amr al-Yashkari, and a fact that I do not recommend memorizing if you are a fan of virgin poetry.
Abdul Rahman bin Mahmoud
