About this app

Let Us Speak Ikwerre (A Kwu Iwhnurọhna) is a self-study book and audio book app in the English and Ikwerre languages. It is another initiative aimed at inspiring and motivating the younger generation of Ikwerre indigenes to read, write, listen to and speak their mother tongue. It is sponsored personally by Dr Ifie Sekibo, Managing Director of Heritage Bank, who is an avid supporter of the preservation of Niger Delta languages and cultures.

Let Us Speak Ikwerre (A Kwu Iwhnurọhna) is written in English by Mrs Oyintarela Umeri, an indigene of Adagbabiri, Sagbama Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. She holds a Master’s Degree in Development Management from London School of Economics, United Kingdom. She is founder and Managing Director of Niger Delta Books Limited- a publishing company established to preserve and unlock the languages of the Niger Delta region- and she is passionate about ensuring that indigenous languages of the Niger Delta region are valued and embraced by the younger generations, as a key part of their cultural heritage.
