If you're on the fence about buying the updated app, it's well worth it. It has an updated full Afrikaans and English text; descriptions of bird groups; and updated plates for difficult birds - especially for sea birds, raptors and night jars which helps a lot. The UI has also been updated, and previous database mistakes have been corrected. Also a lot more calls. There are some photos only available in the previous version and not this one, so I'll keep both installed.

Excellent Southern African bird app. Easy to use with all the features one would expect to find in a bird app. Especially impressed by the vast number of bird calls included, the variety of photographs for each bird, and the accuracy of distribution maps. Another useful feature allows for the comparison of two species next to each other. No regrets since purchasing this app, and great that it's a once-off payment and not subscription based.

New version is way too buggy! When the GPS issue was "fixed" it wiped out all my previous GPS points! Location based searches don't work at all; just returns all the birds irrespective of location. Update 14 January: the latest update has still not fixed location based searches. This is a very convenient feature, without which I think I will switch to Roberts. Very frustrated!
