Our story

Our story began to be written by Antônio Jacob Renner, of German descent, based in Rio Grande do Sul, south of Brazil. In 1912, the A. J. Renner group started, a manufacturing industry located in the Navegantes neighborhood, in Porto Alegre, RS. It opened in 1922, in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, its first point of sale for the sale of textile items. It sold pure wool capes and capes for men's clothing – known as Capa Ideal –, resistant to cold, wind and rain, becoming an indispensable piece of clothing, both for the gaucho of the Campaign and traveling salesmen, as well as for the city ​​man.

From 1940 onwards, with the sale of a wider mix of products, it became a department store. In 1965, Lojas Renner S.A. was founded and in 1967 it became a publicly traded company.
