Very effective. I've learned a lot of kanji reasonably quickly with this app. Some minor issues with a few characters getting marked wrong for no clear reason e.g. 青 and 変. Occasionally, the definitions are too similar so it's hard to distinguish them. Also shi vs ichi for 市. There's no way to distinguish which is being asked for when both are options at the same time. I wish that when one makes a mistake it would give a second chance rather than showing you the character immediately. Finished!

Sometimes when I get the kanji completely wrong it somehow still counts it as right. It has also counted some as wrong some of the time. Something else I discovered is it teaches readings wrong. The one I noticed is 何本, which should be read as なんぼん(nanbon), but the app says it's is なんほん(nanhon). I would be surprised if this wasn't a problem with other words as well. It also messes up pitch accent for many words. The app is great for learning the Jouyou kanji, but it needs serious improvement.

It has a few problems : First the writing detection is pretty bad, it will sometimes validate wrong input and refuse right one... I hope they can improve this and maybe provide snapping. Second there are some mistake like for the app 連れて来る is a different word than 連れてくる ! And they have two VERY similar meaning sentence, but you have to choose the one otherwise it's counted as error, it's very annoying. The same happen with 全て and 全部 both can mean all or everything..
