About this app

With the beginning of 1976 and at the beginning of February, the first activity of the church began in the form of a meeting of prayer, chanting and studying the Bible, where the number was four. With the passage of time and inviting others to participate, the number began to increase and reached twelve.
At the beginning of June of the same year, the prayer meeting moved to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Dubai, where the pastor agreed to use the church building on Tuesdays for an hour a week, to become a church worship service "worship and preach". This was the beginning of a church that brought together Arab brothers from different backgrounds "Evangelicals, Orthodox and Catholics". This is where the need for a Shepherd to lead the service came into play.
During a period extending to two years, the Lord employed servants, who came from Abu Dhabi, to lead the service, and the Lord’s blessing continued on His Church and worked to revive it through blessed and faithful servants.
In 1988, Reverend Karl Scherbeck moved from his residence in Abu Dhabi to Dubai, and gave more time to service and care, as he volunteered to participate in the service of the church at its headquarters in Sharjah.
Beginning in 1992, the church contracted with Reverend Karl Scherbeck to serve as the church's first pastor. Then the Lord blessed his church, and the number of attendees increased to nearly fifty people. Then, in June of 1992, with the church’s expansion and the limited space in the Sharjah building, the church moved to Dubai in one of the villas in the Jumeirah area, where it was the church’s place of worship in partnership with the United Christian Church UCCD, an English-speaking evangelical church.
The leaders of the two churches decided to participate together in administrative matters and unify efforts in front of the concerned authorities in the state, so the place was considered a center for evangelical churches in Dubai, and it was called the "Dubai Evangelical Churches Center DECC", and it is managed by a joint committee consisting of three members from the English Church and two members from the church Arabia.
With space in Jumeirah limited, the DECC administration applied to the concerned authorities to allocate land for churches, and after eight years, a plot of land was granted by the Dubai government to the church in the Jebel Ali Village area. And here the great challenge began, how will the DECC manage to finance the construction project (the construction budget at that time was about eight million dirhams). In front of this challenge, the efforts of the believers in the two churches combined, and the people began to collect and donate and search for local bodies to support the project. Some even applied for personal loans from banks to contribute to the project. At some point, when the contractor stopped construction due to non-payment, the construction workers were willing to complete the construction free of charge as their participation in the project. With the blessing of the Lord, the project was completed, and the official building of the Evangelical churches was opened in Dubai, in November 2003
Successive Pastoral Leaderships of the Church
Reverend Karl Scherbeck: Came with his wife Barbara in 1988, and took care of the church after it was officially established from 1992 until his retirement in 2002
Being a foreigner (English-speaking), Reverend Carl insisted that services be in Arabic (even if he wasn't fluent in it). He also noticed the presence of many leaders who were given various gifts by the Holy Spirit. He encouraged them to use their talents in various services in the church, as well as Christian preaching and discipleship services in other regions such as Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah and Al-Ain.
Reverend Carl insisted on finding competent Arab shepherds, in order to keep the Arabic language in service. He was effective in this, as he appointed Reverend Ashraf Azmy in 1995, and Rev. Onsi Albert in 2000 to serve as the first and second pastor of the church.
He planted with his wife the spirit of love, spiritual communion and the open house, and they established counseling and counseling services to contribute to deepening the roots of these values in the foundations of the young church.
Reverend Ashraf Azmy: He came with his wife Manal, and began his service as an assistant pastor with Reverend Carl for four and a half years starting in 1995, then they moved in 1999 to serve in the United States of America.
Reverend Onsi Albert: He came with his wife Maggie, and began his pastoral service to the church in 2000 until the date of his resignation in 2016, when he devoted himself to the extension service.
Reverend Wael Haddad: He moved from his ministry in Cairo, with his wife Maram and his son Joseph, and began his service as an assistant priest with Reverend Onsi Albert in 2014, and then took over the church after Reverend Onsi’s resignation in 2017, to date.
