The WXXI Public Media App allows you to watch and listen to all of WXXI programs, Radio and TV!
The app provides On-Demand content of all your favorite shows, live streaming of the radio channels, PBS Kids! content, easy access to the live Radio and TV program schedules plus the ability to explore additional content!
Live Streaming
• DVR-like controls (pause, rewind, and fast forward). You can pause the live stream to have a conversation and pick up right where you left off. Or rewind to catch a comment you just missed.
• Listen to live streams from WXXI even while traveling.
• Integrated program schedules for WXXI Radio and TV content.
• Listen to WXXI in the background while browsing the web or catching up on your emails.
On Demand
• Access WXXI programs easily and quickly.

I've been using this app for about 15 months. Initially it performed well. In recent weeks, however, the audio stream has been breaking every few minutes. As a consequence, this morning I am streaming my classical music via the more-reliable WSHU app. I gave it another try today (8 June 2022) and the app stopped streaming twice in 5 minutes. Ugh. I have no problems with classical music apps from WCRB (Boston), WSHU and WMNR in CT or the jazz and blues app from the great KKJZ in California.

I usually listen to live news radio, but appreciate that many of the stories are also posted on the app to read or listen to whenever. Lately, however, the connection drops on a daily basis, especially if the app was open earlier and I'm returning to it. The only way to keep the connection uninterrupted seems to be to closeout of everything and open the app again. Sad to have such difficulty with an app I use daily!

Stops within minutes of start. Sometimes buffers back on by itself, mostly not. After restart you have the pleasure of listening to the 20 sponsor ad again. My advice: get WRVO app. It's reliable, robust, and has on-demand feature. 8/28 - seems WXXI themselves got their neighbor in Syracuse app. Still opens with sponsor ads. Imagine turning on a commercial station and having to listen to a 30 sec spot before programming.
