About this app

Procedure for Conducting Balke Vo2max Test

Objective
The objective of the Balke VO2 max Test (Balke 1963)[1] is to monitor the development of the athlete's VO2 max.

Required Resources
To undertake this test you will require:
1. 400m track
2. Stopwatch
3. Whistle
4. Assistant

How to conduct the test
This test requires the athlete to run as far as possible in 15 minutes
1. The athlete warms up for 10 minutes
2. The assistant gives the command "GO", starts the stopwatch and the athlete commences the test
3. The assistant:
- keeps the athlete informed of the time at the end of each 400m lap
- blows the whistle after 15 minutes
- records the total distance achieved in 15 minutes to the nearest 10 metres

Assessment
Based on the distance achieved in the test Horwill (1992)[2] uses the following equation to calculate the athlete's VO2 max:
(((Total distance covered ÷ 15) - 133) × 0.172) + 33.3

Analysis
Analysis of the test result is by comparing it with the athlete's previous results for this test. It is expected that, with appropriate training between each test, the analysis would indicate an improvement in the athlete's VO2 max.

Target Group
This test is suitable for endurance athletes and players of endurance sports (e.g. football, rugby) but not for individuals where the test would be contraindicated.

Reliability
Test reliability refers to the degree to which a test is consistent and stable in measuring what it is intended to measure. Reliability will depend upon how strict the test is conducted and the individual's level of motivation to perform the test. The following link provides a variety of factors that may influence the results and therefore the test reliability.

Validity
Test validity refers to the degree to which the test actually measures what it claims to measure and the extent to which inferences, conclusions, and decisions made on the basis of test scores are appropriate and meaningful. This test provides a means to monitor the effect of training on the athlete's physical development. There are published VO2 max tables and the correlation to actual VO2 max is high.

Balke Vo2max Test Tutorial Application Use

After doing a balke vo2max test, then obtained the result of distance in meter that must be incorporated into this application.

In this application there are 2 kinds of fitness calculations
1. Calculation for 1 person
2. Calculation for 10 people

Two kinds of calculations are actually the same in the process of determining the fitness level from the balke vo2max test, the difference is only in the amount of data entered.

In the calculation for 10 people, users can also enter data only 5 people. The rest is emptied.

The data that the app user should enter is
1. Name
2. Age
3. Sex
4. Time in minutes

After the user enters the data, please click the PROCESS button to find out the results of each individual's fitness calculation.

If you want to store data that has been calculated, please click SAVE button.

If you want to delete data that has been entered on the data input page please click CLEAR button.

If you want to see the data that has been saved before please click the DATA button.

The Data was insert in user phone is locally save in their phone

Edit. Dropped 1 star for no response from Dev in three years. In your video on the play store, you first provide an example of a 24 (or 25) year old male running (approximately?) 150m in 15 minutes; he is given a rating of "Very Poor." Next, a 24 (or 25) year old female runs 2,000m (2km) in 15 minutes and receives only a "Poor" rating despite running ten times as far as the male... Is that correct?
