About this game

HexWar Games has partnered with Plastic Soldier Company to bring you a digital version of Commands & Colors: The Great War board game. The game allow players to portray important engagements throughout WWI history. The battles focus on the historical deployment of forces and important terrain features of trench fighting in scale with the game system.

The scale of the game is flexible and varies from battle to battle. For some scenarios, a few infantry units may represent an entire wing of a larger battle, while in other scenarios a unit may represent just a few brave soldiers going over the top. The Command card system drives movement, creates a “fog of war” and presents players with many interesting opportunities; while the battle dice resolve combat quickly and efficiently.

The Combat cards add an element of suspense and will challenge players to coordinate their use in a timely manner. Overall, the battlefield tactics players will need to execute to gain victory conform remarkably well to the strengths and limitations of the various types of WWI units, their weapons, battlefield terrain, and written history.

If you're a Richard Borg fan, you will get your fix with this app. However it has many problems with the AI and not all the cards trigger properly when they are supposed to. The AI makes some very terrible choices in strategy sometimes and many times will not make all of its activations that the card allowed. The AI is terrible at attacking and won't make any forward attack on you unless it gets the perfect 2 card combo, and its movement and fire choices are often commical. Rule book won't load.

DON'T BUY THIS APP. Didn't open at all on my tablet. Now on a high spec phone it opens showing the bug fix log. Can't get rid of that view. No buttons visible to get through to the game. Still haven't played it. UPDATE: NOW TRIED TO RUN THIS ON THREE DEVICES. Developer has done nothing to fix this problem. I want my money back.

DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!! When you open the manual the game hangs and you have to close the app and restart. The A.I. is a joke also. When it's set to the strongest challenge (field marshal) it still does stupid moves like play Machine Gun Barrage, and then not even order an available machine gun unit. Certain cards don't trigger or allow you to interrupt and become a waste. I've contacted the developer's help email 3 times and a month later no response. I should not have spent money on this app.
