The Parish Fellowship of St. George of Larissa awaits you all in a 24-hour march for a dynamic and creative day close to Jesus Christ and completes this year 28 consecutive years of existence, cooperation and contribution in the area of ​​the Church. For twenty-eight years, young people and young families, under the guidance of our spiritual Father Nikiforos Kontogiannis, we walk the path of our salvation as one big family with faith, obedience, humility, joy and a spirit of discipleship.
Turning the story back in time, everything begins on January 9, 1992 when our spiritual Fr. Nikiforos, having the blessing of his elder mak. Fr. Athanasios Mytilinaios and the wish of our Despot, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Larissa, Tyrnavos and Platamonos, Mr. Theologus, is called to leave the monastic silence and life, in order to serve His Eminence as a deacon. In I.Metropolis, where the good God planted him, he organizes the youth office, also creating our beloved fellowship "GALILEA" with a characteristic symbol of a beautiful little boat.
From the first moments of its creation, our association has been working humbly and always voluntarily, developing a rich activity in many areas. He ministers to the poor, helps the sick, cares for the imprisoned, comforts the sick, accompanies the elderly, keeps the lonely man company and remembers our forgotten fellow man. He successfully organizes major catechetical, national and topical celebrations and beautiful theatrical performances, such as "Faviola". He composes a wonderful choir of female and male students, which, surrounded by musical instruments, results in the recording of a collection of songs entitled "God-fearing Homeland".
The multifaceted action of our "GALILEE" makes it a pioneer, for the time of 1992, in the field of electronic media with the use of Mac-Apple computer, photocopier, printer, etc., valuable tools in pastoral, speaking and catechetical activity her.
Our company, with the beautiful boat "GALILEA", traveled to Messagala Larissa, where the camps of the Holy Metropolis operated and ministered alongside the children who were accommodated there. Team leaders, catechists, cooks and caregivers all worked together voluntarily, making our beautiful camp a paradise on earth.
And while our fellowship, with the help of God, was enriched in activities, the sleep of our Eminence, on July 31, 1996, will fall like a thunderbolt among us. Unspeakable sorrow and sadness will fill our hearts, but also joy and exhilaration, because a person sanctified by pain goes to the land of the saints, next to the One who loved and ministered all his life. Our company said goodbye to the Despot of her heart on the journey to eternity, with the confidence and certainty that he left behind, that "he will always be by our side and will never leave us".
After the death of the great Theologian, our spiritual father Nikiforos, obeying the exhortations given by the blessed one and with the blessings of his elder, received the permission of the great Metropolitan of Larissa, Mr. Ignatius, and was ordained a cleric by His Eminence Metropolitan Kitros, Katerinis and Platamonos Mr. Agathonikos and undertakes action as a preacher in I.Metropolis Katerinis, without of course also abandoning his action in Larissa.
Our youth fellowship is now beginning to expand further, as young people from the Pieria area are added to it. This is where our "GALILEE" begins a new action. Based in the welcoming hall of I.N. Metamorphoses Sotiros Platamonos we attend the speeches of our spiritual, and participate in the catechetical schools, learning, singing and carrying out beautiful festive events.
