Raffaele Angelini was born in Civitavecchia in 1966 and lives in Tolfa (RM), where he practices as a professional surveyor, specializing in topography.
He has known and appreciated the poetic art since he was a child because his father Vincenzo, a great lover of "a cuff" poetry (i.e. improvised and sung in eighth rhyme) took him with him to attend the frequent competitions or non-competitive evenings of this very particular poetic discipline , widespread in the regions of central Italy and widely followed in Tolfa. He started writing poetry about 7 years ago.
Raffaele composes in "tied octaves", in which the first hendecasyllable verse of the verse must resume the rhyme of the closing couplet of the previous octave; he takes as a model the way of composing the octave of extemporaneous poets.
His sources of inspiration are the observation of the beauties of nature and the world, reflection on the values of humanity, family affections. He often composes on "contrasting" topics, having as an example and reference the "duets" of off-the-cuff poetry, in which two (or more) poets interpret opposing roles and/or figures, giving rise to very lively and engaging poetic competitions, highly appreciated by the public, who participate emotionally by dividing themselves into "opposing factions".
