Denise Ranoisio

Hello, my name is Denise. I'm twenty years old and I'm studying to graduate. I grew up in the Ligurian hinterland, in a small village surrounded by olive trees, which still sees the sea but has its back to the mountains. Although sometimes I feel the unstoppable need to live in the city, a part of me is always linked to country life, to the well-being that only walks in the woods and simply listening to sounds can bring me. I love the sea, I think I couldn't live long away from it, without breathing in its breeze and immersing myself in the sound of its waves. Spending the little free time I have combining my passion for photography with what I love is my way of pursuing happiness, meditation, personal growth.  Photography, for me, is something inexplicable; it is as if you were addicted to that feeling you get when you are sure of capturing, forever, moments, sensations, emotions, which a moment later will have already passed. To immortalize really means to perpetuate in memory, and perhaps this is the reason why I take pictures; because between taking and reliving my images, there is a space in which past, present and future intertwine, on behalf of a logic that challenges time itself and which I can't explain, but which fascinates me every time. I'm only twenty , but in this short period of existence I have had the opportunity to travel and see how much wonder there is in the world: whether it is natural or architectural landscapes, it is simply impossible not to be enraptured by the richness that surrounds us, by the impregnable magnificence of the mountains and seas, to the grandeur of buildings such as the Egyptian Pyramids or the Roman Colosseum. I feel so small, because I am, we all are, when I'm there, in front of one of these wonders with my camera in my hand; I wonder if I will be able to faithfully represent this beauty and then I let myself be carried away by emotions, in a loop that always pushes me to go further, to see and learn more and more. Enjoying the splendor of a landscape through its photographic representation is certainly not the same thing than to experience it in person, yet we admire some photographs for so long that we forget we are standing in front of a wall in an art gallery, and here, in my opinion, the skill of an artist is perceived. There are, and have existed, great photographers who have brought strong emotions to life, because they have brought to light hidden pieces of the world, representing the faces of the people who live there, their expressions, their customs, their customs, eliminating geographical and cultural barriers , arousing reflections and emotion. I find the possibility of suspending single moments of life in time, whether it is the natural world with its transactions or the experiences shared between people, especially those who transmit almost palpable emotions, unique and precious. The possibility of suspending the lines of their faces in time, which without even saying a word, tell something about their existential condition, as personal as it is common to all humanity. These are the reasons why I photograph, because taking images arouses in me a feeling of infinite gratitude and mixed, indistinct emotions; because my irrepressible solicitude triggers profound reflections, sometimes even incomprehensible; and finally, because thanks to the availability of the media that allows us and as human beings, we must look carefully at every aspect of the world, beautiful or ugly, and draw thoughts from it, that is, not remain indifferent, actively participate and contribute to what it is the cultural and political evolution of humanity.
