Matteo Russo was born on August 29, 1970 in Riposto (CT). He studied at the University of Catania, graduating in Medicine and carrying out up to now the profession of general surgeon at the Umberto I Hospital in Syracuse. His activity as a surgeon alternates the passion for poetry that he has always cultivated since he was a boy. He made his debut in 1998 with the collection "From the diary of a lover" (republished in a new revised and enlarged version with BookSprint Edizioni in 2021), which was followed by "Infancy and other poems" (BookSprint, 2022) and "Silence of one day. Poems and poetic rhythms” (BookSprint, 2023). He has collaborated for the Collana Poetica "I Poeti di Via Margutta - Edizione 2023" of the Dantebus publishing house and for the Poetic Anthology "M'illumino d' immense" published by the Pagine publishing house. He currently lives in Mascalucia, in the province of Catania.
