Doriana De Guidi

My name is Doriana De Guidi, I live and work in the province of Verona with my husband Fabio. Since I was a child I have always liked to draw and in middle school for high school I was advised to take an artistic course. So I enrolled as an advertising graphic designer and then at the professional institute for potters. I found work first as a volunteer, then as an employee at a C.E.O.D. (Daytime Occupational Education Center) as a caregiver; my task was to help the integration of people with disabilities into the working environment; modeling clay and later painting ceramics for objects in general and packaging favors. At school I also learned to paint on glass and fabric, while I am self-taught with pyrograph on wood and oil paintings on canvas. Following my father's illness I gave up this job and I'm still a part-time worker in a large food company. Contingent causes I was unable to paint for a long time, and only for a few years in my free time have I been able to resume an activity that I enjoy so much. From an artistic point of view, I have never participated in competitions and I am happy to get involved by joining this exhibition. My main prerogative is to paint reality as close as possible to the photography from which I take my cue. I have done many paintings (in gratitude to people who had been helpful to me) portraying their pets on canvas or wood, exactly as they really were. I put a few examples among my works below. I like to improve more and more in technique, in continuously varying the object of my paintings and always finding new and original solutions both for the material on which to paint and for the frame in which to insert it .
