Amelia Dama

My name is Amelia Dama and I was born in the province of Naples.
I attended the Technical Commercial Institute (due to the lack of art schools in my vicinity) and I graduated there.
But numbers have never been my world.
I later enrolled in a fashion stylist correspondence course and also walked the runway as a model.
I am currently a pilates instructor, a discipline that puts one's soul in contact with mind and body, establishing well-being for those who practice it.
My passions are many, I love every form of art: music, dance, aesthetics, fashion, everything that transmits and expresses feelings and emotions.
But the art that makes me feel free most is drawing, painting, colours.
I am self-taught, I have created various works experimenting with various techniques, from oil painting to acrylic painting, but also alcohol ink and everything that is material. Each of my paintings always has a stucco base and I finish with gold or silver leaf.
I paint abstracts, flowers, landscapes, everything that gives me sensations and then transmit them onto canvas.
I love Africa, with all its nuances, the animals, the sunsets, the children and their smiles, the dances and their habits and customs, but at the same time
it saddens me to see their suffering; these are precisely the emotions that I put on canvas, depicting faces and landscapes of this continent.
I hope that my works can reflect what I see and feel and that those who observe them look at them through my eyes.
