About this game

Full version: Invasion of Poland 1939 is a turn based strategy game set on the European theater during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011

You are in command of the German WWII armed forces invading Poland from three separate directions (Fall Weiss - Case White). While the Germans have a clear advantage once all the divisions join the offensive, the Polish Army defends their homeland fiercely, using the defensive fortifications, rivers, and their local mobility to try to halt the German advance before the entire country is torn into pieces. The object of the game is to seize both the Polish capital city of Warsaw and control over 100 victory points as quickly as possible. This war is also known as the September Campaign or the 1939 Defensive War.

Notes: An attack-centric scenario with Germans pushing forward from multiple directions.

"The Poles fought with the courage of despair. Their losses were heavy, but they would not yield. Their cavalry, in particular, distinguished itself by its bravery and self-sacrifice. But the Poles were outnumbered and outgunned. Their air force was destroyed on the first day of the war. Their tanks were no match for the German Panzer divisions. Within two weeks, the Polish army had been virtually destroyed."
- German General Heinz Guderian in his book Panzer Leader

FEATURES:

+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup.

+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.

+ Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units.

+ Settings: A massive list of options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, resources, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.

+ Tablet friendly strategy game: Automatically scales the map for any physical screen size/resolution from small smartphones to HD tablets, while settings allow you to fine tune hexagon and font sizes.

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

"The Poles are fighting with the courage of despair. Their losses are heavy, but they will not yield. They are fighting for their lives and their liberty. They are fighting for the cause of civilization. We must give them all the help that we can."
- British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a speech he gave to the House of Commons on September 11, 1939

I'm sure it's a solid strategy game and it could be fun. However I tried it for awhile and then had it refunded. It seems to be geared towards people that have been playing awhile or already know how. As someone who has never played a game in this series it just wasn't fun. There is no way of knowing what all the numbers mean, how the actions work, what you're supposed to do.. Etc. A few tiles have notes but that's it. I hoped to find a manual of any sort somewhere online but no luck. No thanks
