About this game

German Whist (or Hamburg Whist) was the first game Coppercod created and is still one of our top card games to play, both on the app and offline. Play now on your smartphone or tablet!

Free to play. Track your Stats. Take on smart AI.

This fun game is a two-player variation of classic Whist, a great game to learn card skills, relax and enjoy.

The aim of the game is to take more tricks than your opponent. The winner is the first player to reach the win target, either 10, 25 or 50 points. Make sure to track your all time and session stats to follow your improvement as you learn!

Customise the version of German Whist you want!
● Choose your win target
● Choose between last 13 or every trick scoring
● Choose easy or hard mode
● Choose normal or fast play
● Play in landscape or portrait mode
● Turn single click play on or off
● Sort cards in ascending or descending order
● Replay and hand at the end of a round
● Review the previous tricks taken during a hand

For a more fast-paced version of German Whist, choose our new ‘Small Whist’ game option to play with a cut down piquet 32 card deck.

You can also customise your colour themes and card decks to choose from to keep the landscape interesting!

Quickfire Rules:
German Whist is divided into two sections: the Foreplay and the Endgame. During the foreplay, players select cards from their hand in order to win or lose cards turned over from the main deck. In the endgame, they play their resulting hands against each other to win tricks.

A card is beaten either by a higher card of the same suit, or any Trump card. Once a card is played, other players must play a card from the same suit. If they do not hold any cards from this suit, they may choose to Trump, or Throw Away by playing any non-trump card.

One point is scored for every trick a player wins over six in ‘Last 13’ scoring, or every trick over 13 in ‘Every Trick’ scoring mode.

Love the ad free version of this game! I've played it for dozens of hours at this point. I only wish the AI was more difficult on the hardest setting.

Great game! Great way to learn new games. But for some reason every card game I have from this developer just sits on the initial download. I have to reinstall it to play everytime. Used to work great

I love this game......but only downfall is that the cards are very close together and if a card is played in error there is no way to undo the play. There probably should be an option to ask....are you sure you want to play this card?
