I really like this app. First off, the app is exactly what I wanted. It allows for granular, customizable tracking of my catches and works flawlessly. In addition, and importantly to me, it does not tie me into social media in any way when all I want is a record of my catches and the characteristics of each so I can use the data and program-provided statistics to evaluate my angling. Secondly, I had some questions and comments for the developer and he was extremely responsive.

Of the fishing log apps I've tried, this one is the best for me. However, it seems that the coders haven't fished much or kept a real log. I've kept logs on paper for some time and one of the most important things I need to know is when I didn't catch fish too. This app seems to be geared towards when u catch fish. Anytime I go fishing it's a trip. So, it would make sense to start a trip with a start time and location. Integrated into that trip would be what is caught. Then there would be an end time to the trip. The important thing that a fishing log should give u over time is information like fish of a certain species/hour. Total fish/per hour. Moon phases/tidal information. The sky is the limit for an app like this as far as providing useful historical information. I'd be willing to pay for a truly good fishing log and this one has the right idea but, falls a bit short to being really useful.

Thanks for the review, Pat! Everything you've described is planned for the future. I'm planning an overhaul of how the app works to make it easier to record trips (both when you catch fish and don't) and catches, and more useful analytics. If you have any questions or other suggestions, please feel free to reach out to support@anglerslog.ca.

Only things I would change would be to have the back button save data instead of erasing it, and enable the creation of new fishing spots in the catch menu. I wade alot of rivers/streams (with a handy and functional waterproof case for my phone), and can cover a lot of ground in a day, and where I am at is a pretty important data point. I have all but finished an entry only to hit the back button w/o thinking to add the fishing spot and erased everything too many times. Otherwise outstanding!
