Starship is a financial technology company, not a bank. Spending Accounts and the Starship Visa® Debit Card provided by and issued by nbkc bank, Member FDIC. Balances in your Starship Spending Account (“Spending”) earn .01% Annual Percentage Yield (“APY”) on deposit balances $0.01 – $1,999.99 and .04% APY on deposit balances $2,000 and above. We use the Spending Account’s end of day balance to calculate the interest earned that day. The rates are effective as of October 1, 2021, are variable and subject to change after the account is opened. Accounts subject to approval.

Any balances you hold with nbkc bank, including but not limited to those balances held in Starship accounts are added together and are insured up to $250,000 per depositor through nbkc bank, Member FDIC. nbkc bank utilizes a deposit network service, which means that at any given time, all, none, or a portion of the funds in your Starship accounts may be placed into and held beneficially in your name at other depository institutions which are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). For a complete list of other depository institutions where funds may be placed, please visit https://www.cambr.com/bank-list. Balances moved to network banks are eligible for FDIC insurance once the funds arrive at a network bank. Pretty good program in terms of reliability and use. Lacks some common sense things like ability to write checks and use all the features from the desktop. For instance, changing the deposit account not possible on desktop. Additionally, they keep changing desktop further. Now there isn't even a login link on the desktop site. I get that they want people to use the app but when I'm doing my budgeting, it is on my desktop which makes the app inconvenient.

Haven't actually used the card yet. Got it in the mail and looks nice plus had the contact-less pay option which is pretty cool. Had some technical issues with the first deposit. However was surprised with the customer service response leading to the VP of customer relations reaching out to me to settle the issue. I really appreciate their willingness to correct their own mistake and will be looking forward to using the platform soon to see if the product works as well as advertised.

Hi Bruce, I'm sorry for this experience. For the security of our customer’s funds, there can be a standard bank holding period when transfers are initiated that can be up to 7 business days. We've already initiated your funds back to you and someone from our leadership team has reached out to you with confirmation and resolution.

Can't skip linking a bank account step, even if your bank is unavailable in the process. This prevents getting any cards or account information. Also doesn't provide any way to get routing or account number information from the actual bank. Everything is hid behind a simplistic application workflow that is not exhaustive or well thought out.
