Sleepio is an online sleep improvement program proven to help you clear your mind, get better sleep, and have better days.

Sleepio isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. It incorporates your unique needs to create a personalized six-week program that you complete at your own pace. Each session builds on the last, guiding you step-by-step through methods proven to help you quiet your racing mind, reshape your behaviors, and get better sleep — all in about 20 minutes per week.

The program uses cognitive behavioral techniques that are backed by decades of clinical research, and has undergone more testing than some of the most common sleep medications. In 12 randomized controlled trials with over 13,000 people, Sleepio was proven to help participants fall asleep 54% faster, spend 62% less time awake at night, and have 45% better functioning the next day. Horrible, badly made, patronising cartoons that you can't skip, badly made UI, subtitles hidden behind UI, only 9 scientific resources are found in 'Resorces', and not enough adaptability for different situations - so you don't know if this is even suitable for you until you've signed up for a week. It's basically just a course to help you reduce negative thoughts about your sleep, and to maximize your sleep time while in bed. Not suitable for everyone , but at least it doesn't claim to be.

I completed the entire course. I started with an open mind but found it all deeply frustrating. It is very CBT based, which may work for some but the app ignores physical and other conditions that impact on sleep and instead it's all about your attitude and thoughts about sleep. Some tips are helpful but not really worth the lengthy repetitive videos to get there. The format and language needs reviewing- eg. not everyone has a bedroom or can safely get out of bed and go elsewhere after 15 mins.

After persisting having to listen to the first session twice, I remain unimpressed and frustrated with how poor this app is. The sessions are too few and far between. Only available once a week and literally nothing useful happens in the first two sessions. In the third session you end up deciding on a sleep restriction schedule to follow for the next week. But guess what? You can't access it anywhere after finishing the session. The schedule area does not show the timings agreed.
