What is the Bible?
The Bible is a description of God's actions in the world and His purpose for all creation. The writing of the Bible took place over sixteen centuries and is the work of over forty human authors. This is an amazing collection of 66 books in a variety of styles, all containing the message that God wanted to give us.

This collection of books contains an amazing variety of literary styles. In it you will find many stories about the lives of good and bad people, about battles and travels, about the life of Jesus and about the early church activities. It reaches us in stories and dialogues, in proverbs and parables, in songs and allegories, in history and prophecy.
The stories in the Bible were not usually written down as they happened. Rather, they were retold over and over again, passed down from generation to generation, before they were written down. However, the same themes can be found throughout this book. Along with diversity, there is also a remarkable unity in everything.

So what is the Bible? In addition to all of the above, the Bible is:

A guide to a fulfilling life. This gives us a roadmap for life's perilous journey. Or, in other words, in our journey through the ocean of life, the Bible is the anchor.

This is a collection of wonderful stories for children and adults. Remember Noah and the ark? Joseph's multicolored cloak? Daniel in the lions' den? Jonah and the fish? Parables of Jesus? These stories focus on the triumphs and failures of ordinary people.

Shelter in trouble. People in trouble, in suffering, in prison and in grief tell how turning to the Bible gave them strength in their hour of despair.

Treasury of understanding who we are. We are not mindless robots, but magnificent creations of God, who loves us and gives us purpose and destiny.
