Read the most popular Version of the Bible, translated in modern English.

The New International Version (NIV) was created by a group of scholars translating the Bible from the original texts in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

The project was formally started in a meeting in 1965. A big group of scholars met in Illinois and began to translate the Holy book from available manuscripts in the original languages. The purpose was to create a Bible in contemporary English.

The New International Version Bible was first published in 1973 and it had revisions in 1978 and 1983.

The purpose of New International Version Bible is to bring modern Bible readers as close as possible to the original meaning of the Sacred Scriptures.

The work of the NIV will never be complete because English usage is always changing. The CBT (Committee of Bible Translation) is charged to meet every year to review and maintain the NIV. A 2011 update is the latest revision.

The New International Version Bible consists of 39 books in the Old Testament (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi) and 27 books in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, Corinthians 1 and 2, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, Revelation)

This bible app works great to help my autistic student find the right verse quickly. It has taken a lot of pressure off of him. It helps him keep up.

I gave 2 stars because it pops a lot of ads.

One of the best translations in publication, NIV is in my computer, tablet, & phone to study any time. Now is the time for NIV pdf to reside in silicon chips for study off-line. About those ads... Not only is the Bible NOT a commercial enterprise (like tv). It is the Word of God. Jesus chased the money vendors out of the temple because THEY ABUSED IT, cutting through the grounds with livestock, using it to promote unethical merchandising to bilk the people of God. That is modern advertising.
