The Arabic Language Academy considered that one of the most important means is to develop a dictionary that provides the reader and the educated person with the linguistic materials he needs, in a clear, accessible, and easy-to-understand style. It was agreed that this lexicon should be called the “mediator lexicon,” and the complex assigned a committee of its members to develop this lexicon. This dictionary has been drawn up after being guided by what the Council and its conference approved of modern civilized terms, or new terms placed or transferred, in various sciences and arts, or precise and clear scientific definitions of things.

For all of this, this lexicon has prepared what was not prepared for other means of renewal, and it gathered in it what was not met in other characteristics and advantages, as many of the brutal, dry, or abandoned words were neglected because of the lack of need for them. I also omitted some synonyms that arise from the different dialects and then take care to prove the living, easy, and manly form of words and formulas, especially what the student and the translator feel the need for, taking into account the accuracy and clarity of the words or their definition.

In explaining the terms of this dictionary, the texts and dictionaries that depend on it, and its reinforcement by citing Qur’anic verses, prophetic hadiths, Arabic proverbs, and rhetorical structures narrated from famous writers and poets, was used. The muwadith, the modernized, the Arabized or the exotic, which was approved by the Council, and the writers accepted it, so their tongues moved with it, and their pens moved with it.
