The Shawqiyyat is a collection of poetry by the Egyptian poet Ahmed Shawqi (1868-1932). Shawqi began publishing his complete poetic works in four parts in 1926, with an introduction by Muhammad Hussein Heikal. Diwan al-Shawqiyyat in its complete form included the best poems he composed in the various stages of his literary life (1898-1927), and was distinguished by the diversity of subjects, and the multiplicity of currents and positions that he represented. Shawqiyyat represents an important stage in the life of Arabic poetry in the era of the Arab renaissance, before it was overwhelmed by modern artistic and philosophical doctrines, or the genius of a new intensive culture. Shawqi is considered the head of the revivalist school in modern Arabic poetry, a trend that was established by Mahmoud Sami Al-Baroudi before him.

Ahmed Shawqi published the first book called “Al-Shawqiyyat” in 1898, but his collections appeared long after that. In his first attempt, he issued the first edition of his collection in 1898 and wrote the introduction to it. In it, he mentioned that the one who suggested calling it “The Shawqiyyat” was Shakib Arslan when he met him in Paris during his youth.

Diwan al-Shawqiyyat in its completed form consists of four parts, and it has been printed several times, varying in the date of the appearance of each part. The first part of it was printed in 1900 with an introduction by the poet himself, and it was reprinted with the introduction in 1911, then the introduction was deleted and an introduction by Muhammad Hussein Haikal took its place and it was printed again in 1926. Then the second volume of Al-Shawqiyyat was published in 1930, and the third volume was published in 1936, i.e. after the death of the poet, and it is specialized in poems of lamentation. Then the fourth volume was published in 1943 with the attention of Muhammad Saeed Al-Arian, from some poems that were not included in the previous parts, and the collected children's stories, which amounted to 65 stories, and this composition is the one that is generally reprinted. Then Muhammad Sabri Al-Sorboni collected “The Unknown Shawqiyyat” in two parts in 1961, about 5,000 houses.

In 1980, Ahmed Muhammad Al-Hofy published Shawqi’s Diwan in different tabulation and documentation, in two parts. , Elegies, Miscellaneous, and Children's Garden which includes his poetry in his children, and songs and songs, and tales. In this division, he relied on the general nature of the poem. In 2012, the Hindawi Foundation for Education and Culture issued the free copy of Shawqi’s Diwan legally, available online, as the text of the book is in the public domain according to intellectual property laws.
