Outside of there being little explanation of how the hands translate into points, the game has a good tutorial. But the game does a fairly good job of giving a relative feel(with a nice reference card for the various hands) and plays well(the timer system is a bit on the odd side, but you get used to it fairly quickly). The variants are also fun shakeups of the core mahjong formula worth trying. Monetization is limited to cosmetics, but is at P2W prices if you go beyond the monthly pass.

Really made it easy to learn to play. Only thing that this needs is more frequent events, even if they're recycles. Anyhow I highly recommend you look in the options to show what all the Chinese characters mean. Don't be like me and spend hours memorizing all the characters only to have a buddy point out there's an option to translate them. Hopefully the developers make that a default thing for new players.

I've played with other Mahjong apps before, and I would say this is by far the best when it comes to teaching new players about the game. It has options which can be helpful while learning the game that can slowly be turned off as your knowledge of the rules increase. The art style and anime asthetic is great. The bonding system adds something of a goal to the game which is surprisingly interesting. Overall it's a solid game that I recommend for those starting to learn the game.
