This book is an introductory introduction to looking at hadith from the definition of hadith, when hadith becomes a scientific study, history of hadith, science that helps understand hadith, such as the science of asbabul wurud, the science of ma'anil hadith, the science of Tarikhurruwah, the science of mukhtaliful hadith, 'ilalil hadith, the science of nasikh wal mansukh and the science of takhrij hadith.

The set of knowledge contained in Ulumul Hadith is the main tool in the study of hadith and makes it easier to contextualize hadith. To make it easier for readers, this book is equipped with a discussion of Concepts, Urgency, Objects of Study, Methods and Examples from each discussion.

The study of hadith has developed rapidly and is quite meaningful. This is proven by the flood of literature that presents discussions of hadith, regardless of whether the hadith book is just a study of Ulumul Hadith or is contextualized with actual issues that are currently developing. This is an indication that hadith as an important guide for Muslims continues to be discussed and remains sustainable.

Understanding hadith must begin with understanding aspects of concept, urgency, object of study and method. This is to make it easier for us to understand the hadith. Although it must be realized that the study of hadith revolves around this study or questions whether the hadith is authentic from the Prophet. This is done by placing the hadith as something that can be used as a basis. However, it is important to see what the setting was when the hadith was revealed, what was the role of the Apostle at that time; whether as an ordinary human being, individual, husband, messenger of Allah, head of state, community leader, warlord. This is important to know to place the hadith in a substantial portion and place the hadith proportionally.

For this reason, in looking at historical facts and looking at the function of the Prophet in society, studying hadith by looking at the status of the Prophet in the context of what he said and knowing the actual form of hadith is an important effort to capture the hadith in its entirety. So understanding hadith is very necessary in the framework of finding the complete meaning of hadith and achieving perfection of hadith.
