About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the Amaliyah Traditions of NU Citizens Tahlilan, Hadiyuan, Dhikr, Yasinan, Grave Pilgrimage by Sutejo Ibnu Pakar. In Pdf format.

The Islam received by the Southeast Asian people who were the first to embrace Islam was probably heavily colored by various Sufi teachings and practices.

In Indonesia and especially in Java, the beginning of the development of religion (Islam) was in a form that was mixed with Indian and Persian elements, wrapped in religious practices. The Islam that came to Indonesia and especially Java was Islam with a Sufistic pattern.

Islam came to Indonesia through Indian mysticism and was welcomed by old beliefs that had developed, namely Hinduism, Buddhism and anismism. However, over time, Islam succeeded in making itself a breath of these old beliefs. Moreover, after the founding of the Islamic kingdom of Demak led by Sultan al-Fattah who was fully supported by the Walisongo Council.

Sufis (guardians), ulama and kyai in Java tend to be sympathetic and accommodating to local cultural traditions. The tradition of praying for people who have died or honoring the spirits of ancestors in Javanese religions is also preserved. Even now it has acquired its distinctive form due to the Islamization of culture.

Islam succeeded in acculturating the Islamization of local culture. All forms of local traditions and culture are not spared from great efforts, including ceremonies: congratulations for the deceased (tahlilan), the nujuh month ceremony for pregnant women, the earth alms tradition, the nadran tradition, and so on. (Ibn Pakar).
