About this app

This Android application is an explanation of Universal Language Typology. Contrastive Analysis of Arabic and Indonesian by Dr. Fahmi Gunawan, M.Hum.. In Pdf format.

This book was written with a mission that is not too grandiose, simply to explore the grammatical phenomenon of Arabic and Indonesian which until now has been taken for granted without asking how this linguistic phenomenon can occur. This book of course begins with the issue of language typology in the world and is followed by the concept of universal grammar in general.

Next, the discussion is carried out descriptively regarding the dominant word order patterns that occur in Arabic and Indonesian. This word order pattern is known as a verbal sentence in Arabic as explored in chapter 3 and a verbal sentence in Indonesian as discussed in chapter 4. A critical description of the word order pattern apparently influences the manifestation of nominal words in both Arabic and Indonesian.

This is the point at which the linguistic phenomenon in Arabic and Indonesian occurs. By knowing general word order patterns, we can find out why Arabic and Indonesian grammar exist. In the final chapter, a comparison of linguistic phenomena in Arabic and Indonesian is carried out.

This book, which describes the typology of languages or the universality of Arabic and Indonesian, can be presented to readers.

This book is the essence of the author's thesis which was completed at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta several years ago. Even though it has a fairly long time span, until now, work discussing the typology of Arabic and Indonesian is still rarely done by scholars in Indonesia. This is because this work does not simply accept the grammatical structure of Arabic and Indonesian as it currently exists, but instead questions why this grammatical structure exists.

For example, why do topics (mubtada), comments (khabar), prepositions (harf jar) inflection systems such as activity systems (ma'rifah and nakirah), case systems (i'rab), number systems (mufrad, mutsanna, and plural) is it in Arabic?

Likewise with Indonesian grammar. The question is why do gender and number markers in Indonesian use lexical markers? Why do nouns in Indonesian use prefixes, inserts and suffixes? These questions are discussed thoroughly in this work so that we can find out the reasons why the grammatical structure of a language exists in certain languages in the world. Salawat and greetings to the noble lord, whose light of love is still felt to this day.
