About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the book entitled The Myths. Another point of view about myths. In Pdf format.

Indonesian society has always been strong in its cultural traditions, especially Javanese traditions. Almost all Javanese people understand the myths passed down by their ancestors when they grow up, whether the stories passed down from generation to generation are myths or can be tested for truth. Even so, sometimes familiar myths, even though the truth is known, are still a method of educating young children to form morals according to Javanese cultural customs.

The mythical image that has long existed in the lives of many people contains the meaning of falsehood. So that the mention of myth shows low value and does not need to be maintained. In this sense, "myth" becomes a kind of "painting" of realities (which are unattainable, whether relatively so or absolutely) in a simplified format, so that they can be understood and captured by many people.

The existence of this myth exists because of the need of ancient people to teach a sense of the noble meaning of life to make a person's life more alive and valuable. Besides myths in Indonesia being synonymous with a story, myths are also familiar in other parts of the world in symbolizing things such as national flags or pennants which can represent something. The existence of myths in this case can elevate the value of inanimate objects to become the most valuable objects in a person's life, for example, it does not make sense that if someone is willing to die solely for or for the sake of a piece of cloth that happens to be a certain color or picture, namely a flag.

On the contrary, it makes sense that he was willing to die "under" the flag like a piece of cloth, because he understood that "behind" the flag or symbol there was a big and very bold reality or meaning for himself and his society, such as a country or religion. ' At first it was just a piece of cloth that had no value whatsoever, but because a value can be based on or can be placed on an object, the object is as valuable as the value of a person's principle, let's say the "red and white" national flag. Looked at from any angle, whatever the type of cloth, as long as it symbolizes red and white, an Indonesian soldier will respect it in life and death and that is very natural.

Basically, myths are the stages of a person's journey in achieving the meaning of happiness and peace in life in the world. If the myth that has so far been a depiction of false expressions or reality, this is a response to someone's disappointment with logic that does not match the logical views of today's (modern) people with the logic of ancient people. Until today, myths have become popular as falsehoods and doubts. Modern society tends to use ratios in its reasoning, so that something irrational, such as a myth, will only be a work of the past and is not suitable for use.
