This book was published as a thesis on the birth of the hoax phenomenon on social media which has recently become an epidemic in our society. Where our society tends to easily accept messages whose truth has not been validated, but people also easily spread these messages to a wide audience. The spread of this phenomenon cannot be separated from the ease with which people currently access information, news and so on through increasingly sophisticated communication technology.

The presence of convergent communication technologies such as the internet, cellphones, and so on makes it easier for people to use them in everyday life. Even now, there are almost no boundaries between one community and another. The reality of life becomes content in media which is increasingly moving towards hyper-reality, various facts of life emerge in it which are suitable and which are not suitable for public consumption.

This book is presented as an academic contribution and digital media literacy effort for society. Truly important reading for literacy activists, academics, media workers and the wider community.
