The availability of fertilizer is one of the absolute requirements for increasing agricultural crop production. Continuous use of chemical fertilizers has many disadvantages, including environmental pollution, health problems due to chemical residues left on plants, and decreased soil fertility. Apart from that, the availability of chemical fertilizers is limited and the prices are quite expensive.

Therefore, providing information regarding alternative uses of fertilizer to support soil and plant fertility is an important thing that must be considered by various related parties. The Center for Libraries and the Dissemination of Agricultural Technology (PUSTAKA) in 2022 published a book with the title Organic Fertilizer: Easy to Make, Abundant Planting Results, as a form of providing this information. This book was written by researchers from the Ministry of Agriculture based on various theories combined with direct experience in the field.

Organic fertilizer as a natural source of nutrition for the soil must continue to be developed both in its manufacture and use. Farmers must be able to independently make organic fertilizer to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and subsidized fertilizers. Apart from that, of course it will reduce production costs. Education regarding the importance of using organic fertilizers must continue to be carried out, so that farmers will gradually reduce chemical fertilizers.

This book contains main information regarding types of organic fertilizer, how to make it and how to use it. Through the information in this book, it is hoped that it can help farmers, extension workers and other stakeholders who will develop organic fertilizer as a natural solution for increasing soil fertility.

We hope that this book can support the achievement of agricultural development goals and realize advanced, independent and modern agriculture.
