Quality education is an inevitability that must be fought for and worked for. Therefore, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) is determined to create world-class madrasas. Madrasas have the potential to compete with other educational institutions in the world. Students at madrasas not only study religion, but also study science and technology.

The Ministry of Religion's determination to build world-class madrasas is motivated by the global challenges faced today and in the future. Based on the results of educational evaluations conducted by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), Indonesian students' reading literacy, scientific literacy and numerical literacy skills are still behind other countries. Of course, this is a reason for madrasas to immediately improve themselves so that students are able to compete in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Apart from that, madrasas are also required to be able to keep up with and utilize developments in science and technology such as the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), 3D printing and big data processing. As part of a madrasa, teachers are also required to be able to develop innovative learning to foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication.

Not only that, in learning, teachers are also required to be able to develop higher order of thinking skills (HOTS) and problem solving abilities.
