Khalid ibn al-Walid or often abbreviated as Khalid bin Walid, was a warlord during the reign of Khulafaur Rasyidin who was famous and feared on the battlefield, and was nicknamed Saifullah Al-Maslul (the unsheathed sword of Allah). He was one of the important warlords who was undefeated throughout his career, famous as the supreme commander for the Prophet Muhammad and his successors. Under his military leadership Arabia was able for the first time in history to form a unified political entity, the Caliphate

Commanding the new Muslim army, he was undefeated in more than a hundred battles including against the Byzantine Empire, the Sassanid Empire, and their allies including Arab tribes outside the Caliph's control. The strategic achievement was the conquest of Arab Persia Mesopotamia and Roman Syria in just four years from 632 to 636. His famous victories were the decisive victory at the Battle of Yamama, the Battle of Ullais and the Battle of Firaz, and the tactical success at the Battle of Walaja and the Battle of Yarmuk.

Khalid bin Walid was born approximately 17 years before the development of Islam. He was a member of the Banu Makhzum tribe, a branch of the Quraysh tribe. His father's name was Walid and his mother's name was Lababah. Khalid was among the Prophet's very close family. Maimunah bint AI Harith radhiallahu 'anhu, aunt of Khalid, was the wife of the Prophet. Khalid also has a family relationship with Umar himself, namely his cousin.

Previously, before converting to Islam, the name Khalid bin Walid was very famous as the invincible commander of the Quraish Infidel Army. Khalid was so brave and powerful both on the battlefield and an expert in formulating war strategies.
