About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the Sukarno File - Chronology of a Collapse by Antonie C.A. Dake. In Pdf format.

With the overthrow of President Suharto in 1998, an opportunity was created to begin holding free discourse regarding the events of 1 October 1965 which had resulted in fundamental changes in the country and the Indonesian nation.

Suharto gave the impression of always trying to cover up this incident which was actually the beginning of his future power. For Suharto, the only scapegoats for the events that became known as the 30 September Movement were the communists. Meanwhile, the interests of other groups and individuals, including their predecessors, seem to be being minimized or even covered up. However, Sukarno was from time to time portrayed as an accused or a role model depending on Suharto's needs. But this highlight is clearly not a historical explanation.

When Suharto was no longer in power, the time had actually come to re-examine the events of 1965. At the same time, it is necessary to highlight the background of the 30 September Movement, which is an event that is still full of irregularities, which actually started the fall of the first president of the Republic of Indonesia.

The research which is the basis for writing this book as a mere contribution to this discourse, began in the year Suharto fell.

In his efforts to gather the necessary resources, the author has received invaluable assistance from Dr. Michael den Hertog and Harald Beenakkers. They diligently and in detail researched everything that was published inside and outside Indonesia from 1965 to 2000 regarding the events of October 1.

From the materials collected, they distilled what could be used for this book. At a later stage, source research, especially regarding Indonesian language materials, was continued by Drs. I. Lesmana Hardjo, MA. He also provides assistance with interviews and other activities related to research efforts.
