When several close relatives and friends congratulated me on becoming Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, I asked, "Please pray so that you can end this assignment with your head held high." The meaning is, I don't want it to end badly, su'ul khotimah, to be remembered as a person who prostituted his trust.

That is why the trust must end safely. Strictly speaking, without deviation. Obviously, without corruption. So, efforts to maintain anti-corruption integrity are what we continuously strive for at every step. The book No Wamen No Cry is here to describe some of the efforts made when we, Mr. Amir Syamsudin and I, carried out our mandate as Deputy Minister and Minister of Law & Human Rights.

It is precisely on the word "trust" that strict security is attached, not to the position or chair of the deputy minister, because positions can change and disappear, so that position becomes an unimportant factor. However, trust is always there in any position. So, trust is the most important factor that must be secured, not the position of deputy minister. That is why this book is entitled, No Wamen No Cry. The position of deputy minister may continue to change, but the trust must continue to be maintained without betrayal, because betrayal of the trust of duties causes humans to lose their mandate as khalifatullah, as holders of the trust for peace and goodness on earth.

The following are several column titles that describe how the series and threads of the story are linked together to ensure that the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights' mandate remains safe, so that khusnul khotimah can be achieved.

“Integrity, Integrity, Integrity” is one of the titles, because integrity is the key. Maintaining integrity is an effective solution to every problem in any organization, including bureaucracy.

So, maintaining anti-corruption integrity, integrity that cannot be bought, is a necessity, without the slightest exception, without any tolerance. In fact, for small corruption, such as extortion, zero tolerance must still be enforced. Even if the value is small, extortion is still corruption. In public services, extortion is the most destructive disease. It's not surprising that for public services, extortion is the main enemy.

Where extortion is rampant, good public services will disappear, replaced by a system of queuing that is piled up against each other and bribes that are scattered around. So, the perspective that assumes that extortion is a blessing is clearly a fatal error. Extortion is clearly not sustenance, "Extortion is Never Halal".
