In Southern Thailand there has long been conflict between the Muslim minority (separatists) and the government. In the midst of the vortex of conflict and violence that occurs, there is an interesting reality, namely the strengthening of peace-oriented movements, where there are parties who continuously strive for peace and find solutions to conflicts between Muslim minorities and the central government without having to reduce the principles of their demands. or aspirations. They are from academics, educated circles, cultural figures, religious figures and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

The question is What is the role of academics, religious leaders and NGOs in efforts to find solutions to the conflict for the Muslim minority in Southern Thailand? What are the views of each group and individual as well as the relationships between them and the obstacles faced by the ongoing conflict and violence in Southern Thailand? How do academics, religious leaders and NGOs develop the concept of cultural harmonization, including religion, and negotiate political interests among themselves, between minority Muslims and the majority population and the central government?

This research is qualitative research that uses a combination of historical research approaches and methods. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The validity or validity of the data was checked using the triangulation method. All data collected is studied, analyzed and interpreted, to be articulated in the construction of a systematic, logical and comprehensive discussion.

The results of this research show that educated groups such as academics, religious leaders and NGOs play an important role in building peace in Southern Thailand. They took a non-partisan strategy over existing separatist groups. They emphasize more on raising public awareness through strengthening the economy and political articulation through building prosperity and resolving social problems that are prone to conflict, rather than mobilizing society to form certain movements.

They take advantage of openness to express their agenda and mission to the public either through mass media, publications, orations, seminars, religious lectures or through direct development of human resources and community capacity. This shows new hope for achieving a more substantial solution for peace.
