This book includes two parts, the first part is a literature review that covers the specific knowledge dimensions of Green Business Models (GBM) in relation to the conceptual definition and assessment of GBM. The review categorizes the information into areas deemed of interest to any practitioner wishing to support the development and growth of environmentally friendly business models.

The second section provides an overview of the 'green finance landscape' and classifies it from a structural and quantitative perspective within the overall financial market. Further in this landscape, it will provide an overview of relevant stakeholders, analyzing their potential role for financing and developing environmentally friendly business models. Both sections aim to provide the background knowledge necessary to find a common understanding across the work processes and project partners of the Green-Win project, facilitating further work processes in the project, in particular the identification and evaluation of GBM.

On the one hand, environmentally friendly growth is expected to improve living conditions, and on the other hand, environmentally friendly growth contributes to solving problems related to the environment and climate, both from a global perspective. For producers of goods and services who are likely to embrace the transition and their responsibility in contributing to it, the existence and development of appropriate business opportunities is of paramount importance.

Even if policies can support the development of such business opportunities with different instruments and the creation of a supportive environment, the implementation of concrete business models and the success of the transformation will largely be determined by the level of creativity and risk-taking of investors and entrepreneurs.

The main finding of this literature review of green business models is that success depends largely on increased consumer awareness, as well as government regulations. Thus, analyzing the market development of environmentally friendly products and services under the socio-economic framework, consumption behavior, and existing and changing technological advances in the future will become increasingly important.

For a sustainable economic transition to occur, the green finance market must grow further in size and depth, encompassing both the supply and demand sides of capital, and also including all intermediaries in, and other relevant actors around, this market landscape. Finally, I hope this book is useful for readers.
