About this app

This Android application is About Omar Al-Khattab - The Second Caliph Of Islam By Abdul Latip Talib.

Omar al-Khattab was born 42 years before hijrah. He was 12 years younger than Rasullullah SAW. In the beginning he was those among the Quraish who was extremely against Islam and bore enormous enmity against Rasullullah SAW. But at the age of 35 years, he obtained his hidayah and embraced Islam.

His real name and his descendant was as follows; Omar bin al-Khattab bin Nufail bin Abd al-Uzza nin Ryah bin Abdullah bin Qurti bin Rizah bin Adiyyi bin Kaab.

His mother was Hantamah binti Hisyam bin al-Mughirah bin Abdullah bin Omar bin Makzum. Abu Jahal was the uncle of Omar bin al-Khattab. During his ignorant years, both of them were great enemies of Rasullullah SAW. But after he embraced Islam, Abu Jahal was his enemy.

Omar al-Khattab was from the Adi tribe family. Before he became a Muslim, he was the ambassador to the Quraish. Whenever there was a battle, he would be sent as the middleman to negotiate on behalf of the Quraish. During his ignorant days too, Omar al-Khattab was renowned as a hard hearted and cruel man until he was even inclined to bury his little daughter alive. He did not only hurt Rasullullah but once had the intention to murder him.

However, after he became a Muslim, his hard heart was used to protect Rasullullah SAW and Islam. His courageous characteristics and his gallant ways were used to fight the enemies of Rasullullah until he was given the title of al-Faruq which means a man who dared to speak the truth. He was one of those companions who were guaranteed paradise by Rasullullah SAW. When Saidina Abu Bakar as-Siddiq was on his death bed, he suggested Omar al- Khattab as his successor after he gained the consensus of his companions.

After he was appointed as the Caliph, he continued the efforts of Abu Bakar as-Siddiq in freeing the Muslims from the threat of the Roman and Persian powers. He succeeded in freeing Peninsular Arab from the Roman and Persian Empires. Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt were conquered. The ultimate success was when he conquered Jerusalem from the Romans.

He ruled for 10 years 6 months and 4 days. During his reign, Caliph Omar al-Khattab has not only succeeded to overpower the Roman and Persian Empires but also succeeded to bring transformations in the era of the Muslim rule.
