The treatises in this book are basically an invitation to dare to honestly look at some of the educational problems in Indonesia, so that we can see educational problems as they really are, without covering them up. Dare to see problems as they are is the first step to finding the right way to solve them. We need to get out of the tendency to cover up problems that often occurred in the past, some of which may still remain today.

Problems cannot be solved by covering them up or by turning away from them; Foreign 'debt' will not be paid off by calling it foreign 'aid'; 'poor' families will not be free from poverty by calling them 'pre-prosperous' families; 'illiterate' people will not be able to read by calling them 'illiterate'.

We should have the courage to face debt as debt, poverty as poverty, illiteracy as illiteracy. We need to have the courage to accept the unpleasant reality; it's better than deceiving yourself by using terms that sound 'polite'. The next most important thing is to find a solution or way out of the problem at hand.

This book comes from ten papers on education written over a period of 15 years. These papers are grouped into two parts; Part I has the theme 'Development of Creativity' and Part II has the theme 'Character Education and Education for a Meaningful Life'.

During this 15 year period, many changes have occurred. To ensure that the treatise presented is understood according to its context, at the beginning of each section a brief description of the educational issues or problems that developed when the paper was written. It is highly recommended that readers first read the introductory text at the beginning of each section before reading the treatise in that section.


Hopefully the material content of this application can be useful for self-introspection and better improvement in everyday life.
