The book in the hands of this reader is the 4th in the Islamic Studies Anthology Series which collects the works of the academic community of the IAIN SU Medan Postgraduate Program. The commitment to maintaining the scientific productivity of this program is of course impossible to maintain without support from all parties: administrators, lecturers and students. Hopefully Allah swt. will continue to provide the possibility for the IAIN SU Postgraduate Program to continue this into the future. Because, in the end, the most valid performance indicator is productivity. An academic institution like the IAIN SU Postgraduate Program, in the end, is measured by its consistency in producing scientific products.

The articles that make up this 4th series of anthology come entirely from students from the first batch of doctoral program (S-3) majoring in Islamic Education. The entire article was written as a term paper in the Hadith Thematic Education course. Two technical advantages are obtained in connection with the 'asbab al-wurud' of these articles. First, thematic unity.

As a collection of term papers, the themes discussed have formed a unified whole from the start. So there are almost no problems in arranging the themes when the whole thing is combined to form a book like today. Second, as a term paper, the entire article has gone through a seminar and discussion process. At least dozens of doctoral candidates have provided input on each article, even before it reaches the hands of the editor of this book.

Of course, this 'asbab al-wurud' also brings its own problems. Thematically, the discussion will only be complete if all articles are included in this anthology. On the other hand, including all forces quality gaps between articles to be accommodated.

The contributors come from several different academic backgrounds. Careful and critical readers will not take long to realize this through their writings. However, a more careful and more critical reader will also feel the uniform intensity of the academic enthusiasm of the contributors - behind the differences in the final appearance of their articles.

The articles collected in this anthology have very high relevance to the development of Islamic Education. Recently, a trend has emerged to emphasize the Islamic identity of this scientific discipline. Those who are interested in Islamic Education can easily feel how 'fragile' the Islamic roots of this science are.

Islamic education books in general have not shown the strength of their roots in the Koran and Hadith as they should. In fact, in these two main sources of Islamic values ​​(the Qur'an and Hadith) lies the strength of the identity of every science that has Islamic attributes.
