Allah SWT says: "And indeed We have given knowledge to David and Sulaiman; and both of them said: 'Praise be to Allah who is more understanding than most of His believing servants.' And Sulayman had inherited David and he said: 'O people, we have been given understanding of the voices of birds and we have been given everything, indeed (all) this is truly a real gift.'" (QS. an-Naml: 15-16 )

"And Solomon inherited David." He inherited David in terms of prophethood and power, not inherited wealth because the prophets did not inherit. Because after they died, their wealth became alms for the people around them, namely the poor and those in need. And the wealth of the prophets was not reserved for their families. Rasulullah saw said: "We prophets do not inherit." Solomon inherited the prophethood from David. This is an obvious thing.

Allah SWT has chosen him as the Prophet of the Children of Israel. Likewise, Allah SWT has given him power (kingdom) so that he becomes the leader of the Children of Israel. Perhaps the most important thing Solomon inherited from David was military tradition. This tremendous military progress had passed to Solomon. David was actually a poor goat herder, but over time, he became an unrivaled army commander. This change in circumstances is a form of inspiration from Allah SWT and as support from Him.
