In order to carry out their duties as God's vicegerents on earth, humans are provided with physical strength and facilities to maintain this strength, namely food and drink. Maintaining life is mandatory, so seeking fortune is also mandatory. Fortune does not come alone, but must be sought, either directly, such as farming, or through productive efforts such as using various skills that can bring fortune, such as trading.

To maintain life, there are several things that every human must fulfill, as in Ibn Hazm's statement quoted by Afzalur Rahman: 1(1) food intake that maintains body fitness; (2) appropriate clothing to protect the body from heat and cold; (3) a suitable place to live to protect himself from an unfriendly climate.

In order to ensure human survival, Allah equipped humans (Adam) by teaching him the names of any objects, knowledge that would be very useful for him when he was sent down to earth.
