Mobility is a sign of life. Since time immemorial, people have moved from one place to another to survive. After learning that wheels could be used to make moving trains easier, people's mobility became faster. Chariots that were originally drawn by horses could run fast at several times the speed of horses after horses were replaced with engines.

The new power source in the form of an engine can produce several times the power of a horse. At that time, horseless carriages became a new paradigm in human mobility. In the modern era, human mobility has become increasingly faster as horseless carriages have become more perfect.

The book entitled LPG Fuel Vehicle Technology is a comprehensive book about vehicles fueled by liquid petroleum gas (LPG). This book is preceded by an article about modern vehicle concepts and energy system challenges and is complemented by an overview of automotive propulsion systems and an overview of fuel.

LPG is a gas resulting from cracking and refining petroleum consisting of propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10). By reading this book, readers can easily understand why the use of LPG fuel is very good for Indonesia's present and future.

The need for vehicles in the form of cars in Indonesia increases along with the increase in people's prosperity and welfare. Currently the number of cars per thousand population in Indonesia is smaller than the number of cars per thousand population in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore or Brunei. The increase in the number of cars must be balanced with good quality fuel which has lower levels of pollution. Gas fuel is more environmentally friendly than petroleum fuel.

After the book Technology for Vehicles Fueled by LPG is published, I hope that the next series of Modern Automotive books will soon be published which will discuss future car development trends, namely autonomous electric cars. It is also necessary to discuss the transition era before Indonesia enters the era of 100% electric cars. At the GAIKINDO seminar in August 2018, the need for hybrid cars to be developed in Indonesia was discussed. This hybrid car is a car during Indonesia's transition to electric cars.

Without a transition period, Indonesia will only be a spectator in the era of the electric car industry. The car industry in Indonesia and infrastructure in Indonesia must be developed gradually to enter the era of 100% electric cars. This is important to do to prevent the current car industry in Indonesia from collapsing and to save hundreds of thousands of workers who depend on the petroleum-fueled car industry for their livelihoods.
