Abreviation is the morphological process of changing one or several parts of a word or several words so that a new word form occurs. Abbreviation, abbreviation, acronyms, contractions, letter symbols are abbreviation processes. Research on abbreviations is interesting, especially Indonesian abbreviations which have developed in the last 15 years which coincided with the reformation period, a period which is synonymous with change. Reform is also interpreted as freedom.

Even though the form of abbreviation is only an element of a language, the forms of abbreviation collected in this dictionary have recorded the behavior of the people. People are so creative and free in creating forms of abbreviations that they violate the phonotactic rules that apply in their language. Many forms of abbreviation, especially in the form of unconscious words, are the result of this process.

There are also many forms of abbreviation which are actually synonyms of other forms of abbreviation which are still productive in use. Of the four thousand forms of abbreviations (lemmas), there are seventy tens of abbreviation formation processes. If more data is collected, the number of processes will reach hundreds.
