About this app

This Android application is an explanation of the Glorious Dawn of Islamic Philosophy by Dr. Abdul Fattah, S.Ag., M.Fil.I. In Pdf format.

This book is entitled: "The Glorious Dawn of Islamic Philosophy", actually starting from the simple narrative above that the discipline of Islamic Philosophy, apart from having a "distinctive" paradigm and reasoning, has also been present on the stage of Islamic civilization which provides a new spirit. Like dawn which implies light, energy and new life.

It was this new dawn that marked the scientific ethos and jihad and ijtihad of Muslims during the "Golden Age", between 750-1250 AD, thus carving out brilliant golden treasures in various dimensions of life in a comprehensive manner. At that time, without wanting to be overly nostalgic, the golden treasures of Islamic civilization became a reference and parameter for success, both East and West.

The flow of this book's presentation is also quite simple, starting from the Historical Setting, Locus, and Focus of the Study of Islamic Philosophy. The next chapter narrates the depth of the meaning of Islamic Philosophy (covering debates regarding the terminology of Islamic Philosophy, the values contained therein, the aims and objects of study, scope, and the relationship between Islamic Philosophy and Greek Philosophy).

The next chapter explains the ontological and epistemological dimensions of the major schools that have existed in the history of Islamic philosophy, such as the Dialectical Theology School, the Peripatetic School, the Illuminism School, the Theosophy School, and the Wisdom Philosophy School.

Furthermore, it is enriched with the thoughts of Muslim philosophers who have giant thoughts, from the beginning until now, such as Al-Kindi (The Great Arab Philosopher), Al-Farabi (The Second Teacher), Ibnu Sina (The Most Influential Philosopher), Al- Razi (Drug Inventor Smallpox Disease), Al-Ghazali (The Proof of Islam), Suhrawardi (The Master of Illumination), Ibnu Thufail (Novelist, Physician, and Astronomer), and Ibnu Rushd (The Commentator).

Furthermore, the third part of this book concludes with contemporary discourses of Islamic philosophy, such as the discourse of citizenship in Islam (New Interpretation of Ummah concept), rethinking the concept of "deconstruction" in the philosophy of Jacques Derrida and its contribution to the reading of religious texts in Islam and Western hegemony over Islam. Next, it concludes with a study of Critiques and Appreciation on Orientalism in the Study of Islam.

This book was written specifically to meet the literature needs in Islamic Philosophy lectures within the PTKIN scope.
